Don agroindustry develops cooperation with the Republic of South Africa

The Rostov region is interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly countries, including the Republic of South Africa. This was discussed during a meeting on the promotion of food and processing industry products from the Don region in South Africa, which was held via videoconference.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Rostov region together with the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Africa.
“The Rostov region ranks first in the EXPORT of agricultural products among the regions of RUSSIA; according to preliminary data, the volume of exports from the Rostov region is 93.5% higher than last year,” noted Deputy Governor - Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky. - The basis of exports from the Rostov region are grain crops, their share is 71% of the total volume of agricultural exports. Thus, this year the volume of grain exports is 2.1 times higher than last year. Our products are supplied to almost 100 countries around the world.
As for South Africa, according to the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, exports of agricultural products from the Rostov region to the Republic of South Africa in 2023 increased by 26% compared to the same period in 2022. More than 64 thousand tons of agricultural products, mainly grain crops, were sold.
it was noted that this year, agricultural imports of products from the Republic of South Africa to the Rostov region increased by 26% - it amounted to 0.26 thousand tons.
“We are interested in increasing export volumes to South Africa, first of all, food and processing industry products – vegetable oil, FLOUR, cereals, confectionery,” emphasized Konstantin Rachalovsky. - Thus, 800-900 thousand tons of unrefined oil and up to 400 thousand tons of refined oil, more than 100 thousand tons of cereals, and about 140-150 thousand tons of flour are produced annually. We produce more than 110 thousand tons of confectionery products and 30 thousand tons of shelf-stable bakery products. If necessary, we are ready to increase production volumes.”
Don agro-industrial complex enterprises interested in trade cooperation presented their export potential.
Following the event, the participants agreed to further maintain contacts and develop cooperation.
