Hungary will not agree to be included in the sanctions lists of companies that provide energy supplies, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We will never agree with the inclusion of Rosatom or Gazprom in the sanctions list. And we will never agree to the imposition of sanctions against any enterprise that is important to us in terms of energy supplies,” he said.
The minister explained that, for example, if restrictions are imposed on Rosatom, the Paks-2 nuclear power plant project in Hungary will be in jeopardy. The country is not ready to agree to this.
The day before, on September 23, RIA Novosti notes, Szijjarto praised the cooperation with Gazprom with the words that it is “going on in a very honest manner” and expressed hope for the continuation of the partnership in accordance with the contract.
Szijjarto noted that Hungary would not be able to "handle the winter" without Russian gas supplies. “Now we can, because we have enough gas, but a number of other European countries cannot survive the winter without Russian gas. However, I don’t know what the Western European countries themselves think about this,” he added.
