Russia expects the introduction of new US sanctions, but it is difficult to say what they will be, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said on the air of the Soloviev Live YouTube channel.

“Unfortunately, sanctions , we expect them. Today it is difficult to say what they will be. The swearing is only about who is stronger, who will hit Russia harder,” he said.

The introduction of new sanctions against Russia began to be discussed in the United States against the background of the aggravation of the situation in eastern Ukraine. US President Joe Biden said that in the event of a full-scale "invasion" Russia would face sanctions that his counterpart Vladimir Putin "has never seen."

In late January, the Biden administration announced that it was preparing a new sanctions package against Russia. If adopted, the country will face larger consequences than capital flight and the collapse of the ruble after the 2014 sanctions due to the annexation of Crimea, the White House noted.
