Nearly half of its exports to Russia fell under EU sanctions

The European Union (EU) has imposed sanctions against almost half (49%) of EU exports to Russia (as of 2021), taking into account the tenth package of sanctions, according to the website of the European Commission.

“These new bans and restrictions cover EU exports worth €11.4 billion (data for 2021). They complement the €32.5 billion export ban that was sanctioned in previous packages.

For three days in a row, the European Union could not reach agreements on the tenth round of sanctions against Russia on the anniversary of the start of the military operation in Ukraine. On February 25, the EU countries nevertheless agreed on it.

Thus, as part of the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, the EU imposed restrictions against 96 organizations, banned the broadcasting of the Arab service RT and Sputnik radio in the EU, and also expanded the lists of goods prohibited for export from Russia, including bitumen and rubber.
