Kyodo confirms G7 discussions on total export ban to Russia

The G7 countries are considering imposing a ban on the export of almost all goods to Russia, Kyodo reported, citing sources in the Japanese government.

The member states of the G7 have already stopped the export to Russia of a wide range of goods that can be used for military purposes. Countries could extend the ban to used cars, tires, beauty products and clothing, according to a Kyodo source.

On the eve of Bloomberg reported that this idea is discussed by representatives of the G7 on the eve of the May summit of leaders in Japan. They intend to involve the countries of the European Union in its implementation, the sources of the agency say.

The list of goods has not yet been agreed - before that, the G7 leaders have yet to agree on whether they take new measures or not. According to Bloomberg, most likely, exemptions from sanctions will be made for medicines and agricultural products.

The Russian authorities consider the sanctions imposed against the country illegal. President Vladimir Putin has said that the initiators of the restrictions "hit their own national interests" and provoke a global crisis.
