Full vaccination against CORONAVIRUS with Sputnik V protects against the “delta” variant by 80%, virologist, professor at Moscow State University Alexei Agranovsky told RBC.

“Specialists who deal with this issue told me that Sputnik V protects against the delta strain by about 80%. I rely on these numbers. Full vaccination with Sputnik V provides such protection,” Agranovsky said.

Speaking about other Russian vaccines against covid-19 , he did not rule out that KoviVak could also protect against infection with the Indian strain, but in the case of this drug, “cautious optimism” should be shown. “According to my ideas, KoviVac should provide protection, but not as high as Sputnik V,” the virologist explained.

Other vaccines “have so far been used too little and it is difficult to draw conclusions, there are no scientific publications about this either,” the scientist added.

DIRECTOR of the HSE Institute of HEALTH Economics Larisa Popovich, in turn, found it difficult to say how many percent vaccines can protect against the “delta” variant of COVID-19.
