Mortality from COVID in Russia reached a maximum for more than a month

Over the past day in Russia, 748 people have died from the coronavirus infection COVID-19, which was the highest since January 11 (then it was 783), according to the data of the federal operational headquarters.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Russia, according to the estimates of the operational headquarters, 342,383 people have died from COVID-19. However, Rosstat counted more than 625,000 deaths through November 2021 alone. The agency includes in its statistics those who died from other diseases against the background of COVID, as well as those who were found to have the virus after death.

Over the past day, 179,284 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in Russia, which is 7.5% more than the previous day (166,631). The leaders in the number of infections were:
