Population decline in Tatarstan accelerated last year by 72 times, in St. Petersburg - by 58 times. These are record numbers for the country. Moscow showed a drop from an increase of 16.2 thousand in 2019 to a reduction of 24.6 thousand.

On average, in RUSSIA, the natural population decline increased by 2.2 times compared to 2019 - from 317.2 thousand to 702 thousand people.
However, in St. Petersburg , the population decline increased from 308 people in 2019 to 17.9 thousand people in 2020.
In Tatarstan, in 2019, the natural decline was 180 people. In 2020 - 12.9 thousand people. The data of Tatarstan strongly stand out from the statistics of the rest of the Volga regions, where the growth rate of the natural population decline did not exceed 2.5 on average.
