Experts estimated the time spent by Russians on shopping in applications

This year, Russians spent 50% more time in mobile applications of online stores than a year earlier. This conclusion was reached by experts from Liftloff, App Annie and Poq, specializing in mobile app marketing data analytics. RBC has the results of the study.

The increase in the time users spend in online shopping applications is a global trend. Globally, between January and April, people spent 49% more on these apps than a year earlier. The most significant growth of this indicator is in the Asia-Pacific region (plus 54% yoy). In the Americas, the increase was 40%, in Europe and the Middle East - 38%.

The study is based on internal data from Liftoff and App Annie for the period June 1, 2020 to June 1, 2021. The companies analyzed more than 95 billion ad impressions among 1.1 billion clicks and 14 million app installs from June 1, 2020 to June 1, 2021. They studied data from 106 different applications.

The rise in popularity of shopping apps has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic . However, while retail is gradually recovering this year, the amount of time users spent on mobile apps for online shopping increased by 30% from January to May this year compared to the same period last year. This suggests that we are talking about a long-term trend, said Sam Young, global vice president of regional operations for App Annie.
