Johnson and Erdogan decided to unblock grain supplies from Ukraine

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone conversations and agreed to cooperate on the issue of unblocking grain supply channels from Ukraine, the British Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.

"The Prime Minister welcomed Turkey's leading role in resolving the [Ukrainian] crisis, and they agreed to work together to unblock vital supply routes for Ukrainian grain stocks and ease the rise in global food prices," the office said.

They added that Johnson and Erdogan expressed "common deep concern" because of the conflict in Ukraine and "its far-reaching implications for the security and stability of the Euro-Atlantic region and the world."

The American authorities believe that about 20 million tons of grain have accumulated in Ukraine, which are difficult to take out of the country. According to the data of the UN World Food Program, which was cited by its representative, this volume reaches 25 million tons. Significant volumes of grain are on ships in the Black Sea ports, which are now blocked. The United States, together with its allies, is looking for an opportunity to EXPORT this grain in order to return it to the world market, said President Joe Biden . The countries of the "big seven" (G7), which also includes the UK, have agreed to cooperate to prevent a food crisis.

The UN accuses RUSSIA of blocking the Black Sea ports, and some Western politicians make the same statements. Moscow denies the accusations and says that the global food crisis is provoked by anti-Russian sanctions. Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya called the attacks "blasphemous" and said that the country is ready to supply up to 25 million tons of grain to the world market from August to the end of the year.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the fact that it was negotiating the transportation of grain from the territory of Ukraine, although not within the framework of the United Nations.
