Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov said that a new surge in the incidence of COVID-19 coronavirus infection is expected in the city in the fall. At the same time, the mayor noted that at present there is a positive trend in the incidence in the region.

“In the fall, doctors expect a new wave of the disease. The most reliable weapon against the virus is vaccination and herd immunity. I urge everyone who has not yet been vaccinated to get vaccinated, ”said Beglov, commenting on the return of a number of city hospitals to regular work. Earlier, RBC reported that over the past day in St. Petersburg, 1801 new cases of “covid” were detected (the day before it was 1804, the day before - 1811). According to this indicator, the city is in second place in the all-Russian rating - Moscow still has the leadership (+ 2294 cases per day).

As for the number of hospitalizations of St. Petersburg residents with coronavirus, in recent weeks it has been falling - judging by the hospitalization statistics that the interdepartmental city council for combating COVID-19 has been conducting since mid-October 2020, a record low number of patients with coronavirus was hospitalized on August 9. But in the last two days, this figure began to grow again (about 300 hospitalizations).
