The governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, saw the danger of monopolizing the regional market for school meals. On August 20, at an operational meeting of the government, he said that this could lead to the presentation of excessive requirements for product suppliers.
In support of his words, he cited the example of an auction for the supply of food in the Kaliningrad school No. 58. If the conditions of the auction are the same as in this educational institution, only one company and its affiliated structures will remain on the market, Alikhanov said.
“A situation where the criterion in terms of experience is the number of contracts will destroy small and medium-sized businesses,” he warned.
In response to this, Minister of Education Svetlana Truseneva emphasized that the government decree did not define the criteria for selecting suppliers. “This is the authority of the municipalities,” she drowned.
The governor demanded that "normal trades with normal conditions" be held.
