June 5, Minsk . Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko outlined promising areas of cooperation with the Kaliningrad region during a meeting with the governor of this Russian region Anton Alikhanov, BelTA has learned.

The locomotive of cooperation is the construction industry. "Belarusian construction and design organizations are well known in the region, projects have been implemented for a long time. There are a significant number of successfully implemented infrastructure and residential projects behind them. This workcontinues. Thank you for the trust in our builders, we are ready to further increase the provision of services in the areas of design, construction of facilities primarily for industrial purposes in the Kaliningrad region, in the presence of economic efficiency. Delivery, including building materials, becomes more expensive due to the longer logistics arm. Today we will discuss how we can level these difficulties," said Roman Golovchenko.

Interaction in the field of industrial cooperation is also actively developing. "Certainly, an important area for both the Russian Federation and Belarus. Our enterprises supply various types of metal products, rolled products, transformers to the region, import thermostats, polystyrenes, aluminum products and other goods. We have a diversified trade turnover and complementary flows," - noted the prime minister.

In addition, there are prospects for cooperation in the agricultural sector. “In recent years, the Kaliningrad region has been among the leaders among Russian regions in many indicators - in terms of grain yield, milk and many other goods,” the head of the Belarusian government noted. “There is experience of effective cooperation in the field of horticulture. We are ready to expand cooperation in the field of crop production and animal husbandry".

An agreement was signed today between the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and the government of the Kaliningrad Oblast on trade and economic cooperation. "This is a good example of the intensification of interregional cooperation. At this level, direct ties are established between economic entities, joint projects are being implemented, including in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, which is quite natural, given that the Kaliningrad region is traditionally among the leaders among Russian regions in terms of the number of people living there immigrants from Belarus," said Roman Golovchenko.
