Farmers from the Korelichi district have become a model for the whole country

SEC "Mayak-Zapole" is one of the leaders in the agricultural industry of the Korelichi district of the Grodno region. The products of local workers pleasantly surprise not only in quantity, but also in quality. This year was no exception: grain yields are one of the highest in the region. The secret of success was learned from the management of the enterprise.

The harvest was a success

Despite difficult weather conditions, at the end of the harvest, farmers harvested over 17.1 thousand tons of grain, excluding rapeseed. The yield was 92 c/ha, which makes the enterprise one of the best in terms of this indicator in the Grodno region. And in some areas it even exceeded 110 centners per circle! How did you achieve this result? Chairman of the Mayak-Zapolye agricultural production company Viktor Makovik answers simply: strict adherence to production technologies and dedication of rural workers. High numbers are the result of many years of painstaking work.

- The past six months have been difficult for several factors. First of all, because of the abnormal weather: in the spring there were serious frosts, and in late spring and early summer there was an unprecedented drought. Sometimes it seemed that this year we wouldn’t even have to wait for an average harvest . But we managed,” said the HEAD of the enterprise.

Overall, the cleaning went without any major complaints. All issues were resolved as quickly as possible.

- I would like to express my gratitude to our employees, their skills helped us achieve good results. Farmers passed the difficult periods of this year with honor. On the eve of their professional holiday, I wish the specialists all the best,” said Victor Makovik.

The farm has a staff of just over 300 people. There is an active social and cultural life here. Payments are provided for important dates; specialists regularly take part in specialized professional competitions. “Mayakovites” go on excursions together, and all celebrations are celebrated in the same way. By the way, in addition to Agricultural Workers' Day, they have another important date ahead.

- Next year our farm turns 75 years old - a solid figure! Over the years, from a small enterprise, we have become one whose results and quality of work are looked at not only by the district and region, but also by the whole country,” says Victor Makovik.

Rapeseed trend

More and more Belarusian agricultural enterprises are relying on rapeseed, which is also called yellow gold. And indeed: for farmers, its cultivation and processing are quite profitable. In 2022, the Mayak-Zapolye agricultural production complex opened its own rapeseed processing workshop. This decision, notes Victor Makovik, had a positive impact on the work of the enterprise.

- Rapeseed yielded well. From an area of ​​550 hectares, it was possible to harvest nearly 2.6 thousand tons of oil seeds with an average yield of 47.2 c/ha. The result is good, but not the best. There is something to strive for. In the future, we plan to increase the area under rapeseed,” said the chairman of the SPK.

By the way, the winter crop has already been sown. Experts are confident that next year they will be able to get a good harvest.

- You had to get used to working with rapeseed. We made it. Now we are gradually developing this direction, as we see its prospects,” says the manager.

MILK rivers

Traditionally, livestock farming brings the greatest profit to agricultural enterprises. SEC "Mayak-Zapolye" is no exception. The dairy sector is being systematically and successfully developed here. The data for January-October are eloquent: milk yield per cow amounted to 7813 kg - 1113 kg more than for the same period in 2022.

- First of all, the professionalism of livestock breeders worked, who are constantly increasing the productivity of the milking herd. We work very scrupulously when it comes to milk; new technologies allow us to achieve good results,” says Viktor Makovik.

Speaking of food. Just these days their preparation is completed. And the chairman of the SEC highly evaluates its quality:

“This year we made several good mowings, and put the required volume into the silage and haylage trenches. We are satisfied with the quality of the feed. There will be enough of them in reserve, the animals will not starve in winter.

Thanks to the warm and almost dry September weather, it was possible to complete the sowing of winter crops on time . At the end of the year, the company’s specialists, as is tradition, will prepare equipment for the coming season.

- The work will certainly not stop. Let’s not forget about the livestock sector, which requires constant attention regardless of weather conditions or time of year. Even on holidays, our specialists are at work. Of course, we will have to work hard on the equipment: check all tractors, combines and other units in order to begin field work again in the spring,” concluded Viktor Makovik.

Beet harvesting is one of the important areas of the autumn work of the Mayak-Zapolye agricultural production company. Thousands of tons of raw materials have already been sent for processing to the Gorodeya SUGAR Refinery. The yield of this crop is more than 600 centners per hectare. The sugar content of local beets exceeds 16%, which makes them extremely profitable for processing.

The company is constantly working to improve its material and technical base. New equipment is purchased annually, including combines and tractors, seeders and other units. In addition, the construction of a farm for 610 animals is in the active stage. Increasing the milking herd will significantly increase financial revenues from milk sales.

In March 2023, Head of State ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO signed a decree according to which 23 agricultural workers were awarded the medal “For Labor Merit.” Among them is the company’s machine operator Nikolai Seletsky, who has worked on the farm for 40 seasons.
