Shuleiko: Belarus is extremely interested in strengthening trade and economic relations with Algeria

April 16, MINSK . Belarus is extremely interested in strengthening trade and economic relations with Algeria. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko at a meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Youssouf Cherfa, BELTA reports.
Yury Shuleiko noted that trade and economic relations between Belarus and Algeria are quite promising and can develop in various new directions. Given the extensive experience of Youssouf Cherfa in leadership positions, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that the parties will find constructive approaches to moving forward.
"2024 was the most productive year in recent years of our trade relations. Mutual trade amounted to about $50 million, which is many times higher than the figures for previous years. I think this is not the limit, but only the beginning of a high pace of work on the intended goals, which, in particular, will be discussed during your visit to our country," the Deputy Prime Minister addressed the Minister of Agriculture of Algeria. "We will outline further steps in those areas that will be most beneficial to both of our countries."
Belarus is extremely interested in strengthening trade and economic relations on the African continent, in particular in Algeria, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized. "Today, the range of agricultural machinery and food products that our country has is of great interest to Algeria. Food products are also highly valued in the world, especially those products that have a good shelf life - dry MILK , whey, which we already supply to Algeria. These positions are strategic."

Yuri Shuleiko also noted that Belarus received certificates for the supply of beef to Algeria this year, which will become an additional EXPORT direction in trade between the countries.
Belarus is also interested in establishing cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering. "We have good competencies in the production of agricultural machinery, our BELAZ successfully worked in the quarries of Algeria. We also supplied fertilizers, petrochemical products," he added.
