February 23, MINSK. CHINA Merchants CHN-BLR Commerce and Logistics Company (CMCB), which is part of the China Merchants Group Corporation, is ready to become the logistics operator of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange in the Asian direction and actively promote the development of exchange trade between Belarus and China. This proposal was made by Zhang Lun, HEAD of the CMCB business development department, during his visit to the central office of BUCE in Minsk, BUCE spokesman Roman Yaniv told a BelTA correspondent.

it is planned to formalize the partnership between BUCE and CMCB by signing a memorandum of cooperation. At the same time, according to a representative of a Chinese company, logistics is not the only promising area for interaction with the exchange. “We have many large clients who would like to buy sawn timber and other Belarusian-made products, and, as we know, almost all leading exporters are concentrated on the exchange. I believe that combining our experience in the field of logistics with your capabilities as an international trading platform will ensure powerful synergy effect and will contribute to the growth of mutual trade between our countries. At the same time, in addition to logistics services, we are ready to offer cooperation in the banking and insurance sectors. this will simplify the settlements of Belarusian companies with Chinese counterparties, as well as mitigate certain risks associated with cross-border trade. In other words, logistics is just the first step towards a long-term strategic partnership between our organizations,” said a CMCB spokesman.

For his part, Andrey Novikov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of BUCE, confirmed the exchange's interest in establishing partnerships with CMCB, emphasizing the priority importance of the Chinese market in terms of realizing the EXPORT potential of the exchange platform.

“Last year, the exchange export of sawn timber amounted to about 2 million cubic meters. This year, according to our forecasts, this figure will exceed 3 million cubic meters. If your customers are interested in the rhythmic deliveries of large volumes of Belarusian sawn timber, then the exchange is the best tool for this. No less promising commodity items for export to China are MILK powder and rapeseed oil.We already have a successful experience in selling these goods to the Chinese market with delivery by rail.At the same time, the exchange controls the execution of transactions, and through partnership with China Merchants we will be able to offer participants more flexible logistics solutions. As for imports from China, then one of the most demanded positions on exchange trading is amino acids. I am sure that among your clients there are companies ready to supply these products to Belarus. The demand for it, as a rule, is very high," Andrey Novikov noted.

JSC "Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange" was established in 2004. The first auction took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. The main function of the exchange is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market.
