BUCE plans to enter the market of North Ossetia

April 5, Minsk . The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange plans to establish exchange trading in metallurgy and agriculture products between enterprises of Belarus and North Ossetia-Alania, BelTA learned from the press service of the BUCE.

"The experience of cooperation with other regions of Russia shows that it is expedient to use the exchange mechanism both for exports and imports of goods. In the case of North Ossetia-Alania, the most promising direction may be the supply of metals and metal products to Belarus. For the first quarter of the current 2018, the amount of transactions at BUCE for this product group amounted to $178 million, with about 80% of sales accounted for products of Russian origin," said Alexander Bashliy, head of the foreign economic activity department at BUCE.

As for imports from Belarus, in his opinion, one can start with the purchase of dairy products, meat and leather products, which are traditionally in demand among Russian bidders. "Already these several categories of goods can serve as a good foundation for the development of cooperation between Belarus and North Ossetia in the field of exchange trading," he stressed.

The potential for cooperation was discussed during an online conference organized by the Export Support Center for this region of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by 15 trading and manufacturing companies from Vladikavkaz - mostly small and medium-sized businesses.

Among other things, issues of import substitution and transit exchange trade were discussed. In particular, the possibility of mutual deliveries of import-substituting industrial products through the BUCE electronic platform, where companies from 17 regions of the Russian Federation are actively working, is being considered. In addition, the prospects for concluding transit deals between enterprises from North Ossetia and non-residents of Belarus were discussed.

JSC "Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange" was established in 2004. The first auction took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. The main function of the exchange is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market. The exchange sells metal, timber, agricultural products , industrial and consumer goods of a wide range.
