Belarus exported 6 million tons of milk and dairy products to 69 countries in 2024

21 February, MINSK . Last year, Belarusian dairy processing plants exported 6 million tonnes of MILK and dairy products, expanding the geography of deliveries to 69 countries. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Alexander Lomsky emphasized the successes of dairy farming on the external circuit during the Dairy Farm forum currently underway in the capital, BELTA reports.
The volumes of livestock production, significantly exceeding the figures in the post-Soviet countries and some European countries for the main types, allow Belarus not only to ensure its own food security, but also to annually increase its EXPORT potential. Today, the republic maintains a high position in world rankings for dairy exports.
As noted, last year the country exported 6 million tons of milk and dairy products, and the export growth rate was formed at the level of 111.5% in kind and 117.8% in value terms. The share of dairy products in the total volume of food exports in 2024 was 40.3%. The geography of deliveries is also expanding. If in 2023 domestic milk processing enterprises shipped goods to 59 countries, then in 2024 - already to 69. Algeria, Mexico, Kuwait, Nigeria, Kenya and others have opened their markets for Belarusian dairy products. The First Deputy Minister noted that along with the development of new markets, manufacturers are striving to diversify the range of deliveries to those countries where they have already established themselves. The program of the international forum "Dairy Farm" continued with the awarding of badges of distinction and certificates of honor of the Ministry of Agriculture to representatives of agricultural organizations and districts of the republic that achieved the highest indicators in production.
"I consider the forum a convenient platform for exchanging experience among leading specialists. We will hear new proposals and outline approaches that will allow us to radically improve the mechanisms for developing dairy farming in the country," concluded First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Alexander Lomsky.
