An outbreak of ASF in the Krasnoyarsk Territory occurred in an uninsured household

A meeting on agricultural risk insurance in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was held between representatives of the National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NUA), local farmers and government officials, the NAI reported. According to the NSA, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 50% of the pig population is covered by insurance, and the outbreak of ASF in the region occurred on an uninsured farm.

The NSA noted that, in general, the Krasnoyarsk Territory shows good results in insurance in the agro-industrial complex - for example, the coverage of agricultural crops with insurance here exceeds the all-Russian level, and the region is in the top 3 regions of Siberia in terms of agricultural risk insurance. However, in the livestock sector, insurance is very uneven. For example, according to the NSA, pig farmers insured about 50% of their livestock, but poultry farmers - only 11% of birds. Among cattle, insurance coverage is less than 1%.

Agricultural insurers recommend that livestock breeders of the region pay attention to insurance programs in the industry. For example, the region's only outbreak of African swine fever so far occurred in an uninsured business. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture will take more active measures to prevent ASF infection in the region.
