DPR poultry farms quarantined due to bird flu

An outbreak of avian influenza at the enterprise can lead to the mass death of birds

DPR poultry farms have introduced limited access to prevent the spread of influenza. This was announced by the Minister of Agro-Industrial Policy and Food of the Republic Artem Kramarenko.

— The territory around us is unfavorable for a number of factors. In Ukraine, it is ASF, it is even included in the international list for the outbreak of swine fever. In the Russian Federation, an outbreak of bird flu, which led to the mass death of a large number of livestock at poultry farms, Kramarenko noted.

Thanks to quarantine, the epidemiological situation at enterprises can be controlled. In addition, every month the DPR veterinary service checks the sanitary and epidemiological state of the birds.

This precaution is explained by the fact that last year the DNR already faced an outbreak of bird flu. The genetic material of the causative agent of highly pathogenic influenza was found in chickens that were delivered to the Republic from the territory of Russia by the Taganrog Poultry Farm enterprise. In the fight against the disease, the DPR had to ban the import of birds, eggs, down, feathers, and feed from Taganrog for some time.
