The need of Belarusians for dairy and MEAT products is fully satisfied at the expense of domestic goods. This was announced today at a press conference by the HEAD of the trade organization and public catering department of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Mikhail Zhigalo.

"The principles of our national food security are self-sufficiency in basic food products and raw materials, such as grain, MILK , meat, SUGAR, vegetable oil, vegetables, fruits, berries, eggs and fish. According to him, the Belarusian consumer market is developing quite dynamically. "We do not observe any surges in consumer demand for certain types of goods, including critical imports. The share of food in total imports for the first quarter amounted to 7.2%. Compared to January-March last year, there is a slight decrease - by 1.8 percentage points. From 2020, we have a clear trend towards a decrease in the volume of imports for certain food products," the MART representative noted.

Mikhail Zhigalo added that the pandemic has affected the structure of the consumer market, world food prices. “Despite the emerging market conditions, the ministry and other interested bodies have taken a number of comprehensive measures. For the most volatile and turbulent commodity items, we have actually switched to manual regulation in order to saturate our domestic market. were filled," he said.
