Psole Uruguay, this time it is Paraguay's turn to thank Argentina for having to suspend beef exports. With this measure, Paraguay registered a historic EXPORT record in 2021, delivering 326,698 tons of beef to international markets, totaling $1,599 million.
This successful result, reported by the National Service for Quality and Animal HEALTH (SENACSA) of Paraguay, completed the growth that has been recorded since 2017, when MEAT exports amounted to $1,102 million.
Argentina was going through a similar process due to high demand for meat coming from CHINA , until the government decided in mid-2021 to introduce a quota and ban policy that would last until at least the end of 2023.
These restrictions favored neighboring beef producing countries. Thus, sales of Paraguayan meat in 2021 increased by 20.5% compared to 2020, which led to an increase in revenue in dollars by 43.3%. The average export value was $4,890 per ton, up $780 from the previous year.
In total, Paraguay has access to 47 markets, of which Chile was the main export market with a turnover of $712 million. RUSSIA came in second with an import volume of around 79,000 tons and a turnover of $313 million. The top three is Taiwan with 30,000 tons of imports worth 162 million.
