Unrecorded livestock in Buryatia makes it difficult to vaccinate against dermatitis - Galsan Dareev

Unrecorded livestock in private backyards in Buryatia makes it difficult to vaccinate against infectious nodular dermatitis, because the number of doses is ordered based on the payroll. On January 11, the heads of districts of the republic began to turn to citizens with a request to clarify the data for household books of rural administrations.

Now the country continues to vaccinate animals. As of January 10, 2022, 104,036 heads have been vaccinated. Of these, cattle - 56284 heads, 43595 sheep, and 4157 pigs.

- We have a lot of unaccounted cattle. And there is not enough vaccine today. Because we calculated from the data that are registered in rural settlements - in household books, which record the number of livestock for all villagers. But in fact it turned out to be twice as much, - said the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus Galsan Dareev at a recent press conference.

According to the minister, the discovery of unrecorded heads does not threaten the owners with anything - the animals will simply be registered. He also said that, on behalf of the HEAD of Buryatia, Alexei Tsydenov, an electronic database for recording livestock is being introduced - the RegAgro system.

- I don't understand our villagers who hide their livestock. It is not taxed, there are no sanctions. Moreover, it is necessary to show the real number of livestock in order to properly organize its grazing, optimally distribute pastures and hayfields so that there are no various problems, including conflicts, the minister says.

Due to the significantly higher real livestock population - in some areas it is 1.8 times the official figures for cattle, and 1.5 times the official figures for small ruminants - more LSD vaccine will have to be ordered than originally thought.

- Many thanks to colleagues from Vladimir, who prepared 200,000 doses of the vaccine especially for us. They packed it on New Year's Eve to take it to Moscow and send it on a flight that flew to Buryatia on January 1 in the evening. And we started vaccination on January 3rd. And the total cost of the vaccine is about 3 million rubles. To complete the vaccination of livestock, the republic will purchase another 600,000 doses, - said Galsan Dareev.
