Mongolia: the number of dead animals could reach 7 million animals

So far, only 10% of the dead animal carcasses have been buried or disposed of, and work is progressing slowly due to labor shortages. The Commission plans to intensify efforts on this issue. However, new challenges are already on the way: severe dust and snow storms are expected in the western part of the country, which could reach the level of a natural disaster. The Commission calls on citizens, transporters and shepherds to be careful and not to endanger animals, and not to allow children and elderly people to approach grazing areas.

Livestock farmers affected by this disaster continue to receive humanitarian assistance, including grain supplies from Russia. At the moment, 7,155 tons of wheat, oats and barley have already been delivered from Buryatia to Mongolia. This is important support that will help mitigate the impact on local farmers and keep them fed .

The situation in Mongolia requires immediate action and solidarity from the international community. I hope that the efforts of the commission and assistance from other countries will help cope with this crisis situation and restore agriculture in Mongolia.
