The Regional Development Corporation hosted a meeting between the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Rostov Region Konstantin Rachalovsky and the HEAD of the branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation in Rostov-on-Don Denis Timokhin, the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.
During the meeting, they discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of agriculture between the Don region and the Republic of Belarus.
“The Rostov region continues to develop cooperation with the Republic of Belarus in the field of agriculture,” said Konstantin Rachalovsky. – So, in 2020, more than 23 thousand tons of food in the amount of 20.6 million US dollars were exported from the territory of the Don to Belarus . The commodity structure of regional exports is dominated by oil and fat products, which account for 58% of exports, finished food products, fish, cereals and other food products.
According to official data, Belarusian food imports to the Don at the end of last year amounted to 6.7 thousand tons of food in the amount of 10.3 million US dollars.
Cooperation is also carried out in the field of agricultural science. Thus, there are joint research and information exchange in the field of cereal breeding between the Federal Rostov Agrarian Scientific Center and the Scientific and Practical Center for Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Preparations are underway for an international scientific and practical conference on the selection and use of winter triticale.

As a result of the meeting, the main directions of interaction between the Rostov region and the Republic of Belarus in the near future were outlined. This is the exchange of experience in the field of vegetable growing, dairy farming, the technology of growing breeding young animals, the development of cooperation between research and educational agricultural institutions.
