Buryatia: Increase in pork production

Particular attention should be paid to the growth in pig production, which increased by 24.5% in the republic. This figure demonstrates the significant contribution of pig farmers to overall meat production in Buryatia. Meanwhile, cattle production decreased by only 1.1%, which may be due to various factors, such as changes in consumer demand or animal welfare.

It is also worth noting that 82,000 tons of milk were produced in 2023, representing 89.6% of the 2022 production level. Meanwhile, egg production decreased to 92.6 million eggs, representing 99.3% of the previous year's level. These changes may be due to various factors, including changes in production technologies and market conditions.

It is interesting to note that agricultural organizations, peasant farms, and individual entrepreneurs play a significant role in the production of livestock, poultry, and eggs. Their share of livestock and poultry production for slaughter amounted to 65.4%, and 81.9% of egg production. Importantly, private farms also became the main milk producers, making a significant contribution to the region's overall milk production.

These data demonstrate the growth of the agricultural sector in Buryatia and the significant contribution of various farming systems to the development of livestock farming. The development of the pig farming industry and the increase in milk and egg production are important steps toward strengthening the region's position in the livestock market.
