By the summer of 2022, JSC "Kirovplem" - the center of selection work in the region in the field of livestock breeding - plans to open a laboratory for molecular genetic testing of cattle. This was announced by the head of the industry Alexei Kotlyachkov, writes with reference to the press service of the regional government.
“It is planned to determine the authenticity of the origin of animals, as well as the absence of genetic anomalies and diseases in them, using the DNA research method,” said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Kirov Region. - Every year, the breeding organizations of the region sell more than 5 thousand heads of breeding young cattle, including abroad: to Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Bashkortostan, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod, Kostroma regions, Krasnodar Territory. All young animals sold must undergo a mandatory genetic examination.
In addition, many enterprises in the region use the seed material of sires from other countries where DNA studies are used, therefore, only in a molecular genetic laboratory can the authenticity of the origin of the descendants of these bulls be confirmed.
Specialists of the Kirov Ministry of Agriculture named several advantages of the future laboratory: any biomaterial of an animal is suitable for genetic research on the new equipment, the range of research is many times wider than before, the reliability of the results is 99%.
Two highly qualified specialists will work in the molecular genetic laboratory, then the staff will be expanded. A set of modern equipment has already been purchased, which is a joint development of an experimental plant for scientific instrumentation and a special design bureau of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Premises are being prepared.
Dairy and immunogenetic laboratories are also actively working in Kirovplem. A year earlier, an imported analyzer appeared here, which allows, based on the study of milk, to determine the signs of an animal's disease, feeding errors and other indicators. Not only the farms of the region, but also agricultural enterprises from other regions cooperate with the blood laboratory.
“The Kirovplem Joint-Stock Company is annually allocated over 10 million rubles from the regional budget, because breeding work is one of the foundations for the successful development of dairy farming,” said Igor Vasilyev, Governor of the Kirov Region. - State support is also provided to other agricultural producers for the development of livestock breeding. Also, funds from the budget are allocated for reimbursement of costs during the construction and modernization of dairy complexes and farms, for reimbursement of costs for sold milk , for the development of farms and consumer cooperatives. We pay special attention to attracting investments in dairy production.
