Sulfamethoxazole (also known as sulfamethazine) is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of infections caused by bacteria. it belongs to the sulfonamide class and is usually used in combination with other antibiotics, such as trimethoprim, to enhance the effects. Sulfamethoxazole has a broad spectrum of action and can be effective in treating urinary tract infections, pneumonia, typhoid fever, and other diseases.
