January 18, Brest. A resident of the Gantsevichi district robbed an elderly fellow villager, BelTA learned from the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.

The incident took place in one of the rural settlements. A 41-year-old fellow villager visited the home of a lonely 82-year-old pensioner. The woman knew the visitor well, as he used to help her with the housework. The man asked for a loan of Br50. When the hostess opened the purse, the visitor snatched it from the hands of the pensioner, took away the Br1.9 thousand that were there, and ran out of the house.

The victim turned to the police only the next day, hoping that the fellow villager would come to his senses and return the money. Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department quickly located and detained the intruder. As it turned out, after the incident, he took a taxi and, together with his relative, went to the Slutsk region. There, the men spent all the money on purchases, including alcohol , while about Br500 was paid for taxi services.

A criminal case has been opened for robbery. Previously, the figurant repeatedly fell into the field of view of law enforcement officers.
