August 9, Vitebsk. The prosecutor's office of the Polotsk district authorized the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention against the 25-year-old culprit of the fatal accident. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by the prosecutor's office of the Vitebsk region.
A fatal accident occurred at a crossroads in Polotsk early in the morning on July 31. Then, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication , the driver of the BMW X5 lost control and left the roadway. There, the car crashed into a power line lighting pole. As a result, a 28-year-old passenger died in the accident.The driver of a foreign car is accused of violating the rules of the road while intoxicated, which negligently caused the death of a person. The criminal case is being handled by the Polotsk Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee. Taking into account the circumstances and the gravity of the crime, the local prosecutor's office authorized the application of a measure of restraint in the form of taking the accused into custody.
