March 14, Brest. In the Kobrin district, a drunk without rights flew into a reclamation canal - a passenger was injured, BelTA was told at the traffic police department of the Brest regional executive committee.

The incident occurred on March 14 at about half past four in the morning on the 5th km of the road H875 Podolissya - Bosyach - Lutsevichi. A 31-year-old resident of the regional center was driving a car "Renault Laguna". According to preliminary information, the driver lost control and slid into the right reclamation canal in the direction of travel.

A 21-year-old passenger was injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital.

It was established that the driver was in a state of alcoholic intoxication (1.4 ppm of alcohol in exhaled air). In addition, he does not have the right to drive a vehicle.

The Department of Internal Affairs reminded that since March 1 last year, the measure of responsibility for drunk driving has become tougher. In the presence of absolute ethyl alcohol in the blood or exhaled air at a concentration of up to 0.8 ppm inclusive, a fine of 100 basic units is provided with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a period of three years. More than 0.8 ppm - a fine of 200 basic units with deprivation for five years. For repeated driving while intoxicated within a year after the imposition of an administrative penalty, criminal liability is provided, as well as special confiscation of the vehicle.
