
July 7, Vitebsk. Since the beginning of summer, 13 people have drowned in the reservoirs of the Vitebsk region, including one minor. Oksana Lazko, official representative of USC in the Vitebsk region, told a BelTA correspondent about this.
"With the onset of summer holidays, people often spend time near water bodies. Often they neglect the rules of safety and behavior on the water, which leads to tragedies. Statistics show that since the beginning of June, 13 people have died in the waters of the Vitebsk region, including one minor," noted Oksana Lazko.She said that on June 11, a 16-year-old teenager was relaxing with a group of classmates near one of the Orsha quarry reservoirs. Around 15.30 the guys went swimming and the guy swam on an air mattress. After a while, the student disappeared from sight. His body was later removed from the reservoir by OSVOD officers. it turned out that the young Orsha resident did not know how to swim, but decided to keep his friends company.
Another incident happened on June 26th. A company of four people was drinking drinks near a reservoir in the Dubrovensky district and one of the vacationers decided to freshen up. The end result is death.
A similar situation occurred on July 5 in the Braslav district. A drunken 39-year-old man decided to swim in Lake Yelno and drowned. His body was discovered the next day by vacationers who arrived at the reservoir.
In the Braslav region, another case ended in a tragic outcome for one of the Minskers. On June 28, 10 friends from the capital came to Northern Voloso Lake and, as often happens, celebrated their vacation with alcoholic drinks. A 66-year-old man decided to jump from a pontoon and died. The investigative-operational group later measured the depth in that place, it turned out to be 110 cm. The preliminary cause of death of the Minsker was a skull fracture with brain damage, which was most likely caused by a blow to the bottom of the reservoir.
Investigators visited the scene of all the incidents, with the involvement of specialists from the UGKSE in the Vitebsk region, inspections were carried out, the necessary expert studies were assigned, and witnesses were interviewed. All facts are checked.
The Investigative Committee reminds that the tragedy on the water can be avoided if you follow the safety rules. You can not swim in prohibited and unequipped places, as well as swim behind the buoys and go into the water in a state of ALCOHOL and drug intoxication. Avoid swimming near steep shores in strong currents, in wetlands, during thunderstorms and in stormy weather. It is recommended not to dive in unfamiliar places. Parents should always keep an eye on their children and be with them in the water. It should be explained to minors that diving, grabbing hands or feet can be dangerous.
