August 19, Minsk. The centers of visual prevention of drug use should appear in each area. In such centers, teenagers will be able to see what drugs, alcohol and tobacco do to their internal organs. This was announced by Vasily Demidovich, Deputy Head of the Department for Organizing the Work of Inspections for Juvenile Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the round table, BelTA has learned.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministries of Education, Health, Labor and Social Protection, has developed and is implementing measures to prevent delinquency among children, including those related to drug trafficking. The joint activities of the departments are to stabilize the growth in the number of crimes among minors, to inform children and their parents about the consequences of illegal acts, as well as to familiarize themselves with the medical and legal consequences of drug and alcohol use. “We are actively promoting the creation of drug use prevention centers in every region and in Minsk, where teenagers can see what drugs, alcohol and tobacco do to their internal organs and how long an addicted person is able to live,” Vasily Demidovich said.
He informed that in the first seven months of this year, juvenile delinquency increased by almost 8%. "This is primarily related to drug crimes. We are faced with the fact that our children are involved in the sale of drugs, for which they are sentenced to long terms. At the moment, the most common crime committed by children is theft - this is about 50% of all crimes. If we are talking about rural areas, then they steal scrap metal, which later comes true. In the city, children often steal mobile phones, "the deputy head of the department stated.
Traffic accidents are also among the main problems. At the moment, the number of accidents involving children has decreased by almost 15% in the country, and there are fewer injured and dead. Safety issues on the railway are topical: as a result of accidents, two children have already died, two have been injured.
"We should not forget about the safety of children on the water. In the summer alone, 15 minors died in our country," Vasily Demidovich noted.
According to him, children who require special control are not left without attention. "For them, free health camps are organized both with daytime and round-the-clock stay, visits to sections, sports and cultural facilities. For certain categories of children, excursions are organized to places of deprivation of liberty and special closed educational institutions, where carelessness and ignoring the law can lead to consequences," Vasily Demidovich said.
According to him, on the eve of the school year, measures are being taken to improve the safety of children in educational institutions. The presence and serviceability of video surveillance, manual alarms, access control are checked, security routes "home - school - home" are monitored.
“From the beginning of the school year, employees of the juvenile affairs inspection will visit all educational institutions, where they will once again remind children about the rules of behavior on the water, on the road, the inadmissibility of illegal behavior, and will take part in school-wide parent meetings,” the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs concluded.
