
February 3, Moscow. The Eurasian Economic Commission is discussing Russia's proposal to establish a zero import customs duty on small diamonds and precious stones. This was announced today by the official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina, BelTA has learned.
"Until February 7, the discussion of Russia's initiative to single out diamonds weighing less than 0.2 carats in the unified commodity nomenclature of the foreign economic activity of the EAEU and establish import customs duties rates for them, as well as for certain types of precious stones, in the amount of 0% of the customs value for a period of for two years," said Iya Malkina.
According to the Russian side, this measure will contribute to the development of the jewelry industry, reduce the cost of jewelry products and increase their competitiveness in the domestic and foreign markets.The initiative is discussed on the legal portal of the EAEU. In the same place, until March 21, a discussion of changes to the transitional provisions of the EAEU technical regulation "On the safety of alcoholic beverages" will be held. “The amendments propose to extend the end of the transitional provisions until January 1, 2027,” the EEC representative specified. “Previously, it was set until January 9, 2024. This is due to the fact that the date of entry into force of the technical regulation has been postponed from 2022 to January 1, 2024 ".
Iya Malkina called on all those interested to send their comments and suggestions to the EEC.
