
November 19, MINSK . A bottle of rare 60-year-old Macallan Scotch whiskey went under the hammer for a record $2.7 million, TASS reports .
At the beginning of the auction, a bottle of whiskey was valued at $0.9-1.5 million, and at the end the price of the lot set a record at Sotheby's in London - $2.7 million. In 2019, a bottle of the same premium ALCOHOL was bought for $1.9 million.The most expensive whiskey in the world under the Macallan brand was produced in 1926. Until 1986, it was aged in dark European oak sherry casks. After this, the drink was bottled in 40 0.75 liter bottles and offered to a narrow circle of buyers, without being put on general sale.
Over decades of aging, the whiskey acquired a rich coffee color and exceptional taste. Its bouquet contains many woody notes, the taste of dried fruits and spices.
