Pea harvesting has begun in the Saratov region

“The farms of the Rtishchevsky and Khvalynsky municipal districts were the first to start harvesting peas. To date, 424 hectares have been harvested. The gross harvest amounted to 615 tons with a yield of 14.5 c/ha,” said the deputy chairman of the regional government –Minister of Agriculture of the region Roman Kovalsky.
In total, since the beginning of the 2023 harvesting campaign, 228.7 thousand hectares have been harvested in the region, 617.9 thousand tons of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested, of which winter crops - 614.1 thousand tons, spring crops - 3.8 thousand tons. Over the past 24 hours, 49.2 thousand tons were threshed with a yield of 29.7 c/ha.
As of July 21, 32 municipal districts of the region were involved in the harvesting campaign. In addition to grains, early vegetable crops (1,132 tons harvested) and potatoes (2023 harvest - 60 tons) are harvested.
During the forage campaign, 135.7 thousand tons of hay, 47.7 thousand tons of haylage and 8.1 thousand tons of straw were harvested for livestock of agricultural enterprises and farms.
