Agricultural producers of the Aleksandrovsky municipal district are actively harvesting. To date, 92% of winter barley and 4% of winter wheat have been threshed in the district. Therefore, the specialists of the regional department of the Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center switched their attention from the protection of grain to the monitoring and protection of other crops.
In particular, monitoring of sunflower, corn and soybean crops continues. So, in sunflower crops, a defeat by downy mildew of a systemic nature was detected on an area of 0.2 thousand hectares with a spread of up to 1%.
“This is one of several forms of manifestation of the disease and is very harmful,” the regional department of the Rosselkhoztsentr noted. - This pathogen persists in seeds or in soil. Affected plants lag behind in growth, have shortened internodes, their height is not more than 30-40 cm. The leaves are very densely arranged. Yellow-green spots develop along the central vein on the underside from the base of the leaf to its top, which then turn into a dense white bloom. The defeat from the lower leaves passes to the upper ones, after which the diseased plants die.
Monitoring of soybean crops, carried out at the same time, showed the colonization of 15% of plants with thrips. Feeding thrips can cause wrinkling of soybean leaves and discolouration at high density. This damage is evident because they pierce the cell walls and remove the contents.
Currently, the fields of the Aleksandrovsky district are experiencing a moisture deficit. it is lacking, for example, in corn crops, which are in the “panicle ejection” phase. Rosselkhoztsentr specialists will continue to monitor all crops grown in the region, identifying diseases and pests, and taking measures to reduce harm to the agricultural complex.
