The Regional Information and Breeding Center (RISC) began its work on the basis of the Rostov Regional Station for the Control of Animal Diseases. The opening of the RISC is the result of the joint work of the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Veterinary Administration of the Rostov Region.
“The creation of the center is a movement in step with the times, and meets the modern needs of the Don commodity producers, there are about 50 tribal organizations in the region and their activities must be coordinated,” said First Deputy Governor Viktor Goncharov. - The decision to create a regional information and breeding center on the basis of the Don State Veterinary Service was made last year, and during this time a regulatory and methodological base was developed, a team of specialists was formed. A year later, the organization for livestock breeding, which carries out activities on scientific, methodological, technological, service and information support for the selection and breeding work of the breeding organizations of the region, received an official status.
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture of the country signed an order to enter the Rostov RISC in the state tribal register.
“The new center is focused on working not only with farms that have the status of a breeding organization, but also with commercial farms that are interested in increasing the efficiency of breeding and improving the productive qualities of farm animals, as well as the rational use of farm animal resources,” said the head of the regional information and selection center Pavel Nikiteev.
The head of the RISC plans to open his own genetic analysis laboratory.
Specialists of the Rostov center have been serving the farms of the region for a year already, carrying out work on the reproduction of large and small cattle, coordinating selection and breeding activities.
Recall that today there are 49 tribal organizations in the region. Most of them - 22 organizations - are engaged in beef cattle breeding, 12 - sheep breeding, seven - dairy farming, five - horse breeding, one - poultry farming. There are also two service organizations - hippodrome and RISC.
The Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food is sure that coordination of work with breeding organizations will contribute to the development of animal husbandry in the region.
As the Russian Ministry of Agriculture noted yesterday, animal husbandry has shown steady growth in meat and milk production in recent years.
“Our country is already fully provided with the main types of meat products and closes a significant part of the domestic consumption of dairy products. In the current year, according to the agency, the positive dynamics will continue,” the main federal agency of the country noted.
