The main indicators at an operational meeting in the Regional Government were announced by the First Deputy HEAD of the region - Head of the Governor's Administration Yuri Umerenko.
This year has become the most favorable year for crop production in the last five years. According to operational information, the growth in grain production by the same period in 2022 amounted to 32 thousand tons (18%), potatoes - 19 thousand tons (25%), feed for dairy farming - 153 thousand tons (9.4%).
This year a good grain harvest has been harvested - 210 thousand tons. This is more than 32 thousand tons more than last year. An increase in the application of mineral fertilizers by 22.3%, as well as the use of seeds of new varieties of grain crops, and the use of new technologies for applying fertilizers made it possible to increase grain yield to 23.4 c/ha. This is the first time such a result has been recorded in the Vologda region.
The leaders in grain yields are five municipal districts: Gryazovets (34.4 c/ha), Vologda (29.5 c/ha), Kirillovsky (26.4 c/ha), Mezhdurechensky (24.7 c/ha) and Sokolsky (24.5 c/ha).
The gross harvest of potatoes in agricultural organizations and peasant (farm) farms amounted to 92.3 thousand tons. For comparison: in 2022, about 74 thousand tons were collected in this category of farms.
The leaders in potato production are farms in the Ustyuzhensky district (53 thousand tons). The average potato yield in the region is 285 centners/ha, higher than last year by 56 centners/ha. The highest yield was obtained in the Veliky Ustyug district - 403 c/ha.
The livestock industry's need for roughage and succulent feed is fully met. More than 100% of feed has been prepared (26.2 centners of feed units per conventional head). More than 1.5 million silos have been laid. 74 thousand tons of hay and straw, 78 thousand tons of haylage and grain haylage were harvested.
“The main factors for the growth of production include increasing soil fertility due to liming, drainage, the use of mineral fertilizers, state support for the agro-industrial complex for equipment and grain drying complexes, as well as the development of capacities for storing products and the construction of large dairy complexes to bring unused land into circulation , - noted the first deputy head of the region - head of the administration of the Governor of the region Yuri Umerenko.
Over the course of two years, agricultural producers purchased 1,150 units of equipment and subsidized 452 units. Updating equipment helps reduce production costs and attract young personnel to agricultural production.
Plans for 2024 include spring sowing on an area of 132 thousand hectares. The expected sown area will be 334 thousand hectares. To prepare for the 2024 sowing season, 98.9 thousand hectares of plowed land have been raised this year. 25.9 thousand tons of grain seeds and 8.5 thousand tons of potatoes were filled. The need for seed material is fully met.
