Epizootic situation on especially dangerous animal diseases in the world from August 14 to 20, 2021

For the period from 14 to 20 August 2021, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received reports of the registration of 409 foci of especially dangerous animal diseases in 20 countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the official website of the OIE.

Rabbit haemorrhagic disease has been reported in Mexico (24) and in previously disease-free Norway (1), where the infection was previously reported in 2019.
African swine fever outbreaks are registered in Bulgaria (1), Hungary (4), Latvia (7), Moldova (1), Romania (94), South Africa (3).

In Great Britain (1), Germany (12), Poland (165), Finland (2), Sweden (1), South Africa (3) foci of highly pathogenic avian influenza are registered. The disease caused by the virus subtypes H5N8, H5N4 and H5N1 has been reported in farm birds and wild birds.

Lumpy skin disease has been notified by Malaysia (80) and Nepal (4). A case of imported rabies has been reported in CANADA (1). The infected dog was legally imported from Iran. Equine influenza has been reported in Tunisia (1). CORONAVIRUS infection covid-19 was registered in Spain (1) at a fur farm and in the usa (2). In the US, infection has been reported in a domestic dog and a tiger in a zoo. Anthrax has been reported in cattle in northern Iraq (1).
