The Polish authorities handed over to the military a recreation center near Warsaw seized last year from the Russian Embassy, the Republic's Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on Twitter.
“Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak is in Skubianka, where he will take part in the transfer of the lands of the former recreation center of the Russian Federation for the needs of the territorial defense troops,” the message says.
According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, the Skubianka recreation center will be used mainly for training and developing the skills of military personnel.
RBC sent a request to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The recreation center "Skubyanka" is located near the village of the same name, 30–40 km from Warsaw, on the Narew River. Its territory occupies about 6 hectares, there are two hotels, two villas and eight summer houses. The Russian embassy has leased this site from the Polish state forestry since the 1980s.
The Polish authorities terminated the lease agreement for the base in April last year, after which it was transferred to the ownership of the State Forestry Department. The decision in Warsaw was explained by the fact that the diplomats did not pay rent in the amount of 12 thousand zlotys per month ($2.5 thousand at the current exchange rate).

Russian diplomats, according to the agreement, could use the base until 2025.
The Russian Embassy protested against Poland's actions. They explained that since the beginning of last year, the recreation center had been “mothballed and not used for security reasons” and due to the expulsion of diplomats. Prior to this, the Polish authorities froze the bank accounts of the Russian diplomatic mission, which forced them to stop paying rent.
