The authorities want to vaccinate 1.5 million Petersburgers in a month and a half

Chairman of the St. Petersburg Health Committee Dmitry Lisovets

By the New Year, St. Petersburg will reach the targets for vaccinating the population against coronavirus infection. This was announced on Friday, November 19, during a press conference by the head of the health committee Dmitry Lisovets. To achieve herd immunity, the city needs to reach the target of 3 million 600 thousand vaccinated people. As RBC Petersburg was told in the Komzdrav, such a standard was established for the Northern capital by the Ministry of Health.

By November 19, more than 2 million Petersburgers completed vaccination against covid in St. Petersburg. At the same time, the rate of vaccination is increasing. So, the day before, the city set the third record for November in terms of the number of people vaccinated per day - 35.9 thousand injections (21,139 people received the first component of Sputnik V).

"Got to drive a couple of stops"

Dmitry Lisovets did not agree with reports about the impossibility of signing up for vaccination against COVID-19 and about the queues for the procedure for a month. According to the Komzdrav, "there are hundreds of free numbers" for the next few days. “Maybe in a particular clinic, which is located in the courtyard, these numbers are not there, but in the next quarter, maybe in another area, these numbers are,” said Lisovets.

“Yes, now it’s not as convenient to get vaccinated as in summer, when there were a huge number of numbers. We asked to come and get vaccinated, people did not come. Now we have to make several stops. Now these are the conditions. Medical workers should also provide assistance to other patients, and not just ensure that those who, for some reason, did not do so in a timely manner, are vaccinated, ”he added.

In early November, RBC Petersburg wrote in detail that residents of some areas of St. Petersburg faced difficulties when registering for primary vaccination against COVID-19. St. Petersburg residents also reported problems with online registration for vaccination in the official group of the St. Petersburg Health Committee on the Vkontakte social network.
