The US Department of Homeland Security released a bulletin in which it announced an increased threat of terrorism in the country and updated its security recommendations. It will be valid until August 13th.
The document says that existing threats in 2021 have become more complex and volatile. They come from domestic terrorists, individuals and groups involved in the violence, and people under the influence of foreign terrorists. Increasingly, these people use social networks and forums, and the ongoing pandemic only exacerbates what is happening.
In addition, according to the department, opponents of the state have stepped up efforts to “sow discord” in society. “For example, Russian, Chinese and Iranian government-linked media have repeatedly promoted conspiracy theories regarding the origin of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of vaccines; in some cases, there are calls for violence against people of Asian origin,” the bulletin says.
The United States will create a center to protect against the "malicious actions" of Russia and China Politics
The Department of Homeland Security also warned that extremists could use the relaxation of restrictions imposed due to the pandemic to carry out attacks during mass gatherings. The agency also drew attention to the fact that such people continue to share information on the Internet "with the aim of inciting violence."
