In China, COVID-19 was found on the packaging of seafood from Russia

Chinese customs has imposed a temporary ban on the import of seafood for two Russian producers due to the detection of covid-19 on packages of frozen fish. This was reported on the website of the General Administration of Customs of CHINA.

“In connection with the detection of the nucleic acid of the new CORONAVIRUS in two samples from the outer packaging of two batches of frozen salmon imported from RUSSIA, <...> from today, the national customs suspends the acceptance of Russian ships [of two companies],” the message says.

In particular, we are talking about products from the Eglaine Mercury fishing vessel and the Zarya LLC manufacturing enterprise. They also explained that the customs stopped accepting import declarations from these companies for a period of one week.

Live coronavirus found on frozen food packaging in China

Earlier in China, cases of detection of coronavirus on the packaging of goods and products have already been recorded. So, in August, REUTERS reported that virus particles were found on the packaging of shrimp, which arrived in batches of imported products from Ecuador. In addition, particles of COVID-19 were detected in September on a batch of frozen squid from Russia.
