In the Belgorod region, against the backdrop of reports of law enforcement inspections related to the book of senator and ex-governor Yevgeny Savchenko, the leadership of the local Duma has changed.
Speaker of the Regional Duma Olga Pavlova resigned. First Deputy Chairman Elena Bondarenko and Deputy Chairman Valery Sergachev also resigned. Yuri Klepikov, the first deputy chairman of the Duma and HEAD of the United RUSSIA faction, was elected as the new speaker, according to the website of the legislature.
As the Belgorod media outlet Lantern reported on April 7, law enforcement agencies had questions about all three who left their posts - Pavlova, Bondarenko and Sergachev, presumably due to the distribution of literature that could contain signs of extremism. This, according to the sources of the publication, is about Savchenko's book "Shock".
According to Kommersant-Chernozemye, in this book Savchenko told how, during his penultimate term as governor, he met a woman-seer, through whom he was able to communicate with the “Lord of the Earth Monoston”, the Mother of God, Sergius of Radonezh and the soul of Vladimir Vysotsky. They, according to Savchenko, gave him advice on managing the region.

In his book, the ex-governor also commented on the events in Ukraine in 2014: “Bright people very rarely come to power, this almost never happens. <...> And peoples, obeying the will of their ruler, go to kill other people, because they are told that this is necessary for their well-being.
Savchenko led the Belgorod region for 26 years - from December 1993 to September 2020. His representative, in an interview with Kommersant-Chernozemye, noted that the ideas of the ex-governor "did not arise from nowhere and are a stage in the overall evolution."
