Fires in Turkey have reached popular resorts
Forest fires that have engulfed southern Turkey have reached the resort towns of Marmaris and Bodrum. The Marmaris authorities have decided to evacuate local residents and tourists staying in hotels. Firefighting teams from the Mugly Regional Forestry Department were sent to Bodrum, and no evacuation took place there.
The Aegean Tourism Hoteliers Association (GETOB) has placed the evacuated tourists in other hotels located at a safe distance from the fire. Severe forest fires broke out in Antalya on 28 July. Due to strong winds and hot weather, the flames quickly spread over a large area. As a result, three people were killed and another 122 were injured.video
