Phuket will open for Russian tourists vaccinated by Sputnik V. After seven days on the island, they will be able to travel to other open tourist areas - in the provinces of Surat Thani, Krabi and Phang Nga.

Those vaccinated with Sputnik V will be able to enter certain tourist areas of Thailand - the so-called sandboxes, the Russian Embassy in Thailand said in a statement.

“Details and terms for the entry into force of the said decision are still being developed by the Thai relevant departments,” the diplomatic mission added.

Prior to this, only tourists vaccinated with vaccines approved by the World HEALTH Organization (WHO) could enter Thailand. These are drugs from Pfizer, Moderna, ASTRAZENECA, Johnson & Johnson and Sinopharm.

Since July 1, the Thai authorities have opened Phuket to those vaccinated against CORONAVIRUS as part of the government's Phuket Sandbox program. Initially, tourists had to spend two weeks on the island after their arrival, after which they could already travel freely on other routes, AP reported.
