
Over the past day in Russia, 652 people have died from the CORONAVIRUS infection COVID-19, which has become a new maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the federal operational headquarters. The previous record was set on December 24 last year, when 635 people were reported dead from the coronavirus.
A new record for the number of deaths from COVID-19 in one day was recorded in St. Petersburg, where 119 people became victims of the disease. In Moscow, over the past day, COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 121 people, which is three people less than the day before.

Rosstat takes into account all deaths after COVID-19, even those cases where the virus did not become the main cause of death, but had a significant impact on the development of complications of another disease.
