Morocco's national airline Royal Air Maroc is launching direct flights from Domodedovo to Casablanca from May 2, the press service of the capital's airport told RBC.

Two flights a week will be organized: on Wednesdays and Fridays. Travel time will be 6 hours 15 minutes. Boeing 737 will be used for air travel.

Direct flights to Morocco were suspended during the pandemic in October 2021 at the initiative of the African side. The restrictions did not include transit flights through third countries. At the end of November of that year, all direct passenger flights to and from the kingdom were terminated due to the spread of the omicron strain. Since then, the ban has been extended several times.

In February 2022, flights were resumed, but on March 17 of the same year, Royal Air Maroc canceled all flights to Russia for an indefinite period amid the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In turn, Russia last April lifted coronavirus restrictions on scheduled and charter flights to 52 countries, including Morocco.

In autumn, Morocco removed the requirement to provide certificates of past COVID-19 or vaccination. Russians do not need a visa if the period of stay in the country does not exceed 90 days.
