The “conspirators” planned to meet with representatives of Tikhanovskaya’s headquarters in Istanbul or Moscow; they did not consider Europe due to COVID restrictions, the former editor-in-chief said. According to him, since "the marches and walks have already failed," the defendants "saw one option for overthrowing the government - by force with the participation of the military."

The trial in the case of a "conspiracy to seize power" in Belarus began on July 29. Five people are accused in the case: the leader of the Belarusian opposition party "Belarusian People's Front" Grigory Kostusev, literary critic and political technologist Alexander Feduta, lawyer from the United States Yury Zenkovich, a former employee of his Minsk company Olga Golubovich and activist, truck driver Denis Kravchuk.
